Estimados hermanos, he hecho lo posible dentro de mi limitado lexico por traducir este articulo escrito por el Pr. Israel Leito publicadoen ingles en la revista Adventist World. Aunque no tuvo la valentía demencionar nombres, hace alusion al ministerio que realiza aqui en CostaRica la Fundación Socios Misioneros. En los proximos días estaremosemitiendo un comunicado oficial referente a esta publicación. Sinembargo, para que usted pueda hacer su propia evaluación pongo adisposición del publico hispano parlante de nuestra iglesia lasiguiente traducción.

La División Interamericana dice “gracias” 10000 veces gracias, alos innumerables miembros de la iglesia en Norteamérica y otras partesdel mundo, que durante los años, y todavía hoy están contribuyendo aayudar a sus colegas hermanos en Centroamérica a terminar la obra.
Desde su organización en 1922 Interamérica ha gozado de labendición de su proximidad con Norte América y se ha beneficiado porrecibir, a través de los canales regulares de la Conferencia General ypor donaciones directas, millones de dólares que han fortalecido sutrabajo. Estamos endeudados en cuanto a los miles de obreros ultramarque han dado tanto para construir la iglesia en Interamerica.
Aunque numéricamente fuerte, la División Interaméricana aúnenfrenta enormes retos. A pesar de nuestras propias necesidades,estamos siguiendo el valioso ejemplo de los miembros en Norte Américaen cuanto a ayudar a otros. La División Interamericana ha pasado de seruna división netamente receptora a una que da netamente. Contribucionesde Interamérica al mundo exceden las que recibimos. Estamos apasionadosen cuanto a alcanzar a la gente de la ventana 10/40, y deseamos ver laiglesia desarrollarse en ésas áreas como lo ha hecho en Interamérica.
Aún enfrentamos grandes retos, con miles de congregaciones que notienen un lugar propio para alabar, lugares donde un pastor ministra amillares de miembros dispersos en una vasta área. Todavía existenlugares donde un pastor debe caminar días a efectos de poder llegar auna de sus muchas congregaciones.
Un sinnúmero de niños adventistas no tienen una escuela en la cualrecibir educación cristiana. O quizás tienen la escuela pero no losmedios para atenderla. Muchos miembros en Interamérica han aprendido aservir a su iglesia con sacrificio, y están dando más allá de susposibilidades, siguiendo el buen ejemplo de sus hermanos y hermanas enNorte América.
Debido a las grandesnecesidades en Interamérica y al natural buen corazón de los fielesmiembros en Norte América, algunos han encontrado la forma de combinarerróneamente estas dos cosas y tomar ventaja de la generosidad de losmiembros en Norte América. Grupos de así llamados misioneros de sosténpropio van por allí recogiendo dinero para ayudar al trabajo enInteramérica, y estos dineros nunca llega a sus propósitos previstos.Fondos dados para ayudar estudiantes están siendo usados para promoverataques divisivos en la iglesia. En un caso miles de dólares fuerondados para ayudar estudiantes y los fondos fueron utilizados paracalumniar a los pastores y líderes de la iglesia y a dividir lascongregaciones. Los estudiantes no pudieron continuar sus estudios yaque centenares de miles de dólares fueron prometidos y nunca pagados.Varias instituciones han enfrentado problemas financieros debido a esteabuso.
Nos ha llegado informes de otros que van por allí con historiasfantásticas, colectando fondos para una país específico en nuestroterritorio, donde el uso de éstos fondos levanta serioscuestionamientos.
Es gratificante, sin embargo, reconocer las bendiciones de losfieles donantes y médicos que han ayudado a la iglesia en Interamérica.Recientemente más de 12000 nuevos miembros fueron añadidos a la iglesiaen un campo debido al trabajo de un grupo de jóvenes de la Conferenciade Arizona, patrocinados por “The Quiet Hour" y “Share Him Evangelism”.Miles de iglesias han sido construidas por Maranata Internacional, ungrupo de dedicados laicos que construyen iglesias, escuelas, clínicas yotras instalaciones. Igualmente ayudan a llenar esas iglesias a travésde sus esfuerzos evangelísticos.
En un caso, una pequeña niña que cantaba para colectar fondos paracompra medicina, sin la cual definitivamente moriría, fue visitada porlos patrocinadores de Maranata. En el acto estos buenos miembrosadoptaron a ésta esforzada muchacha y le ayudaron en su necesidad.
Estamos agradecidos a las muchas conferencias y uniones en NorteAmérica que han adoptado proyectos específicos y/o territorios ennuestra división para establecer relaciones hermanas y patrocinarmuchos valiosos proyectos.
Si, Interamérica estará porsiempre agradecida a la Conferencia General y a la DivisiónNorteamericana por su respaldo y amor. Dar a través de la ofrendaregular de la misión a la Conferencia General es la mejor manera deasegurarse que sus donativos harán lo que usted quiere que hagan. Dédonde su donación puede ser auditada. Si está impulsado a dardirectamente, hágalo a traves de una bien establecida organización quetenga registros de honestidad, fidelidad y una relación de trabajocercana con la iglesia. Por favor no patrocine la disensión y división.No permita que su dinero financie los continuos ataques a la iglesia ypromueva la desconfianza en sus líderes y fieles pastores.

The Inter-American Division says "thank you"-lO,OOO times "thank you"-to the
countless members of the church in North
America and other parts of the world, who through the years and still today
are contributing to help fellow members in Central America finish the work.
From its organization in 1922 Inter-America has enjoyed the blessings of its
proximity to North America and has benefited by receiving, through the
regular channels of the General Conference and direct giving, millions of
dollars that have strengthened its work. We are indebted to the thousands of
overseas workers who have given so much to build the church in
Inter-America.
Though numerically strong, the Inter-American Division still faces enormous
challenges. In spite of our own needs, we are following the worthy example
of North American members in helping others. The Inter-American Division has
gone from a net receiving division to a net giving division; contributions
from Inter-America to the world church exceed what we receive. We are
passionate about reaching people in the 10/40 window, and we would love to
see the church develop in those areas as it has in Inter-America.
We still face major challenges, with thousands of congregations not having
proper places to worship, places where one pastor ministers to thousands of
members scattered over a vast area. There are still places where a pastor
has to walk for days in order to reach one of his many congregations.
Countless Adventist children do not have a school in which to receive a
Christian education. Or maybe they have the school, but not the means to
attend it. Most members in Inter-America have learned to serve their church
sacrificially, and are giving beyond their means, following the good example
of our brothers and sisters in North America.
Because of the great needs in Inter-America and the good-hearted nature of
the faithful members in North America, some have found a way to wrongly
combine these two and take advantage of the generosity of the members in
North America. Scores of so-called self-supporting missionaries are going
around raising money to help the work in Inter-America, and these monies
never make it to their intended purposes. Funds given to help students are
being used to pro-mote divisive attacks on the church. In one case thousands
of dollars were given to help students, and the funds were used to malign
pastors and leaders of the church and divide congregations. The students
were unable to continue their studies because hundreds of thousands of
dollars were promised and never paid. Several institutions face financial
problems because of this abuse.
Word has reached us of others going around with fantastic stories, raising
funds for a specific country in our territory, where the use of these funds
raises serious questions.
It's rewarding, however, to realize the blessings of faithful givers and
practitioners that help the church in Inter-America. Recently more than
12,000 new members were added to the church in one field due to the work of
a group of young people from the Arizona Conference, sponsored through the
Quiet Hour and "Share Him Evangelism." Thousands of churches have been built
by Maranatha International, a group of dedicated lay members who build
churches, schools, clinics, and other facilities. They also help fill these
churches through their evangelistic endeavors.
In one case a little girl who sings in order to raise funds to buy medicine,
without which she would certainly die, was visited by Maranatha sponsors. On
the spot these good members adopted this struggling girl and helped her in
her plight.
We are grateful to the many conferences and unions in North America that
have adopted specific projects and/or territories in our division to
establish sister relationships and sponsor many worthy projects.
Yes, Inter-America will forever be grateful to the General Conference and
the North American Division for their support and love. Giving through
regular mission offerings to the General Conference is the best way to
assure your gift will do what you want it to do. Give where your giving can
be audited. If you are urged to give directly, do so through
well-established organizations that have a track record of honesty,
faithfulness, and a close working relationship with the church. Please do
not support dissension and divisions. Don't let your money fund continued
attacks on the church and promote distrust among its leaders and faithful
pastors.
